Summertime Real Talk

Photo Credit Amanda Tagert, Aloette Consultant

It is summertime in Mississippi, meaning that the low is typically 65 on a good day and the high can be 100+. Ouch! So here is the thing, which soaring tempts and the beautiful blaring sun we all need to take a few important steps to stay healthy.

  1. STAY HYDRATED! Okay so you might be the person who hates to drink water. Maybe it must be super cold or can only be carbonated. Try putting your water in a fun cup with a straw or an insulated water bottle. It is a mind over matter type of deal. Sometimes we must trick our mind into believing that we are drinking something fun until we can form our healthy habits.
  2. HEALTHY SNACKING! Chips, pizza, and candy are all fine and dandy if in moderation. Remember to replace some of those snacks with fruits like watermelon and berries because while they are tasty, they can also help keep you hydrated.
  3. SUNSCREEN! Look golden tans are might be your thing. I know I feel my best with a tan, but the older I get I realize that my health is more important than my tan. Now I use fake tanners to tone down my blindly white legs and wear sunscreen DAILY! Yea, the sun can cause pre-mature aging, but the scary thing is skin cancer. Wear the hat. Apply the sunscreen. Reapply the sunscreen.
  4. NOURISH YOUR SKIN! Aloe Vera is amazing to help keep sunburns at bay, but it can help to nourish dehydrated skin as well. My personal favorite is Nutri-Hydrating Mist.

Stay safe and stay healthy everyone,

The New Holy Grail of skincare

What do you think when you hear the ‘Vitamin C’? Orange Juice? Famous millennial singer? Oh wait, I think I am showing my age. The point is that few people think of skincare. In fact, Vitamin C is the new Holy Grail of skincare. Vitamin C holds major benefits for many skin concerns such as unevenness, fine lines, acne scars, rough texture, and so much more.

Aloette developed a super serum using 5 types of Vitamin C. Yes, FIVE TYPES! This product contains orange peel, lemon peel, citrus essential oils, mandarin orange, and citric acid. Yum right?!

Apply to clean, dry skin using your fingertips to massage product into skin. Pair alone or cocktail with other serums and moisturizers for an added Vitamin C boost, and fun. Use both morning and night for maximum benefits.

I joined Aloette to be able to be home with my son.

Macey Granger Church is a rising Aloette star. Macey joined Aloette in February and quickly started tracking for success. She earned her kit for free and is working on growing her team. Scroll down to read more about Macey and her motivation.

When did you join Aloette? 2/9/2020

What made you want to join Aloette? I’ve used the products for 10 years and love them! Extra income and needing an outlet as a stay at home mom!

What was your biggest Aloette/LIFE achievement in 2019? Getting to quit work and come home with my son!

What are you working for in 2020? Building my team! Finding confidence in myself as a business owner and some financial freedom will most definitely be a plus!

What motivates you, or how do you keep yourself motivated. My son! Giving him an example to look up to from both his Dad and myself! Also letting him see that we BOTH are doing everything we can to give him the life he deserves!

What makes you feel confident? 1st from an aloette standpoint would be my own experience with aloette… I’ve seen major changes in my own skin and Because of that I’m able to share my own experience without the fear of “telling them wrong” about a product! And 2nd would be having a good show (especially when It takes a little extra push to get it there) overcoming a challenge kind of gives me that aka “sassy hair toss” moment

How do you rate success for yourself? From 2/9-3/1 I’ve already started building my team and in my own opinion… based on the expectations I had for myself in the beginning, on a scale of 1 to 10 I’d rate my first month as a consultant at least a 7 or 8 I could have done more but it was a successful first month that I’m happy with! Success within myself I’d give it a 10 because I’ve found the outlet I was seeking initially when I started this journey and  my expectations for myself and my team are continuously growing and I’m excited to see what the future brings for myself and my family!

When did you join Aloette? 2/22/2020 under my sister, Macey Church.

Why did you want to join Aloette? I wanted to better myself and to be a role model to my 4 kids.

What would you like to see happen in 2020? I would like to earn enough to upgrade our family vehicle to a brand new suburban to haul around my basketball team lol.

What would you say your greatest motivation to make Aloette work for you? My greatest motivation is my beautiful kids and my extremely hard working husband.

What makes you feel confident? Aloette makes me feel confident. It gives me the clear and smooth skin while the makeup gives me the flawless look to put my best face forward every day! Also, my amazing husband who has all the confidence in the world in me!

How do you rate personal success? I rate success by how happy I am and how happy my family is. If we are all happy, then I am the most successful person in the world!

More than makeup and face masks.

I was 27 years old and working in a doctor’s office when I discovered Aloette. How could I have ever imagined how much my life would change.  I was introduced to women who were not jealous of me or my abilities but who embraced them. I found a company that celebrated my successes and encouraged me through my deficiencies and I grew as a woman of confidence and influence. Over my 33 years in Aloette I was afforded the opportunity to live out my wildest dreams and highest goals. I traveled the world, made amazing friends and ultimately came to learn about and to love women from all walks of life.  At 58 years of age, my Aloette journey empowered me to launch out into an unknown territory, helping women coming out of the struggle and darkness of addiction and I opened a faith-based restoration home for women called The Harbor Home.  Many of the same skills that I learned as an Aloette leader are now used to empower women who find themselves in the deepest struggles of life.  I am so thankful that I still have my Aloette business to enjoy and that gives me the extra income I need to continue to enjoy some of the extras of life.

I joined Aloette in 1987 because I wanted a new sofa for my living room, to earn a free beauty kit and get a lifetime discount. What I received was so much more and will remain in me and will work through me until my last breath. Now at 62 years of age, I am so overjoyed to see young women who continue to embrace the Aloette experience and who continue to inspire, empower and encourage women to rise up and be the very best that God created them to be! Many people told me when I started that “it wouldn’t last…that these kinds of businesses never do”…33 years later Aloette is still going strong and still offers the best opportunity for women to work on their own terms, reaching to make their dreams come true. Aren’t I glad I didn’t listen to the naysayers but listed to my heart instead?

She, confident in her abilities, set out to conquer the world.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Mississippi & Arkansas Aloette President, Mindy Boyd. Mindy has over 16 years of experience in the direct sales industry. Mindy ran a highly successful team in South Mississippi for 8 years before she and her husband took the leap of faith to grow their business as Aloette Franchise owners. Last year, Mindy added writer to her resume. Mindy began a social movement to inspire self-confidence to all, She, Confident. See what Mindy had to say about her journey.

Megan: What made you want to join Aloette?
Mindy Boyd: I joined Aloette to earn some extra money until I could figure out what I wanted to do for a living. 16 years later, here I am.

Megan: When did you join Aloette?
Mindy Boyd: I held my launch party July 1, 2004.

Megan: What was your biggest Aloette/LIFE achievement in 2019? What are you working for in 2020?
Mindy Boyd: Honestly my biggest accomplishment last year was just overcoming challenges that could have been derailing otherwise, as a person and as a leader. I’m really proud of how much stronger I am now.

Megan: What motivates you, or how do you keep yourself motivated.
Mindy Boyd: If it’s meant to be, it’s up to me. I keep myself motivated by setting goals, speaking positive affirmations, and tracking success.

Megan: What makes you feel confident?
Mindy Boyd: I feel most confident when I am leading and mentoring other women on their own confidence. Whether it’s inside of our business or just in life in general, I am most confident when I know I am making a positive impact on others.

Megan: How do you rate success for yourself?
Mindy Boyd: I feel successful when I am intentionally living up to the values and standards I hold myself to, when I am taking care of others and taking care of myself, and I am seeing the women I lead accomplish the goals they set for themselves.

Special thanks to Mindy Boyd for participating in this interview. Did you feel inspired? Please take a moment to leave us feedback. Do you like our Blog? Subscribe to our blog so you do not miss anything. Would you like to learn more about Mindy Boyd? Follow Mindy on Instagram.

HOW TO: Pick your next lipstick.

Let’s talk lipstick! Are you a summer or a winter? Spring or Fall?

Confused? Don’t worry we are still talking about lipstick. Have you picked up the most perfect red lipstick and with pure excitement applied it thinking it would look like your besties? We’ve all been there. This applies to most things such as hair color, nail polish, clothing, and makeup.

As a beauty consumer, picking your colors in lipstick, blush, and eyeshadow based on your skin tone will often leave you unsatisfied. Let’s revisit RED LIPSTICK! You might have a cool undertone meaning your skin tends to appear fairer and duller. Applying a color such as RED CARPET to your lips may appear more coral than red. If you have more cool undertones try a true red such as CABARET.

Here is an article from SEVENTEEN MAGAZINE on how to determine what your undertones are.
